New Line 9 of metro Barcelona now stretches to the south of the city connecting Airport El Prat with the city center. Duration of the travel is 32 minutes if going until Zona Universitaria (last destination) but only 22 minutes if arriving to Fira Gran Via.

It is undoubtedly an effective improvement regarding connections between the airport, the city and the area of Hospitalet and Fair of Barcelona, since the existing alternatives of public transportation to the airport was the Aerobus, very efficient to reach the area of Plaza Espanya, the left side of the Eixample and Plaza Catalunya but it needs to be combined with the metro to reach other areas of Barcelona and a slower option that depends on traffic. There was also the train and metro combination but with a train frequency of only 30 minutes each.

Metro L9 provides now a faster connection with a train frequency of 7 minutes each and with a possibility to transfer to other lines such as the L5 (blue), L1 (red) and the L3 (green). However, it requires the use of a different card (Bitllet Aeroport) with a cost of 4,50 €, unlike the train and metro combo that allows the use of the famous T-10 (the city’s most popular card).

The new subway line is a great improvement to reach our apartments Sagrada Familia Barcelona. With only one change at “Collblanc” and a maximum of 60mn, you can be right in the heart of the area of the  Sagrada Familia.
